UNL Wheat plot tours scheduled for June 25
University of Nebraska winter wheat plot tours June 25 in the Panhandle will give producers an opportunity to learn more about new wheat varieties and other topics relevant to producers in western Nebraska. Plots are located in Cheyenne and Box Butte counties.
The schedule of tours:
9 a.m.: High Plains Ag Lab (HPAL), Cheyenne County. To get to the HPAL shop, on Highway 385, 6 miles North of Sidney or 7 miles South of Gurley to Huntsman Elevator; 2.5 miles west on Rd. 32; 0.5 miles north on Rd. 109; 1 mile east on Rd. 32N. Plots are about 0.75 miles northeast of HPAL shop (Field No. 13). Dryland wheat trial is at 9 a.m.; pea variety trial tour following wheat plot tour if anyone is interested.
3 p.m.: Box Butte County irrigated. From Hemingford, 1.3 miles north on Box Butte Avenue, east side of highway.
5 p.m.: Box Butte County dryland. From Hemingford, about 5.5 miles south on Highway 2, 0.6 miles west on Hall Road. Plots are on south side of road (this is 0.5 West of Hall Rd and Rd 67).
